A range of monitoring methods have been brought together in an assessment system that volunteers, landholders, bushland owners, land managers and technical officers can readily use.  To support those using these techniques NCSSA Bushland Condition Monitoring Manuals have been produced.  The region-specific manuals include substantial background information and step-by-step explanations of methodology.

- It also assumes that people using the manual will have completed basic training in these methods with the Nature Conservation Society of South Australia (NCSSA) and it is hoped that ongoing technical support (both formal and informal) will be available to support further development of their skills.

- The first Bushland Condition Monitoring Manual produced covers vegetation of the Southern Mount Lofty Ranges (Bushland Condition Monitoring Manual: SMLR, 2005),  with a supplementary coastal vegetation volume supported by Coastcare and AMLR NRM board added later, (Coastal Vegetation Communities of the SMLR, 2006).

- Coastal vegetation differs markedly from other areas due to prevailing conditions and as a result habitats and vegetation found here are unique. This publication provides descriptions of these communities along with the expected species and structural diversity of the vegetation found in the different regions along the coast.  This information will be vital for decision makers in managing our coastal environments.
